Chaplains excel at offering spiritual support.
But where is the line between that support and actual counseling? In practice, they are often called upon to provide counseling and thus should have a solid foundation in theoretical frameworks based on evidence and end-of-life dynamics. This session will cover a wide range of circumstances that do and do not require counseling and provide multiple theoretical frameworks to meet the needs of different situations.
AFTER THIS WEBINAR YOU’LL BE ABLE TO:
- Differentiate between supportive interventions and counseling
- Identify the Medicare requirement for providing “spiritual counseling”
- Define “spiritual distress”
- List four theoretical frameworks that are a good fit for spiritual counseling
- Describe four situations where counseling and not “support” is required
- Apply two specific techniques for each theoretical framework to specific situations
